SRA acts on compliance

The Solicitors Regulation Authority had announced that it is undertaking a campaign to ensure that solicitors comply with its rules on referrals.

Some referral arrangements have put solicitors in breach of their obligations, for example, by dealing with introducers who put a limit on the solicitors ability to act independently in clients best interests.

The SRA was established by the Law Society in January 2007 to regulate solicitors in the public interest. As part of its campaign it is getting touch with some introducers in order to draw their attention to the requirements on solicitors, and to suggest they review their referral schemes.
